Which part do you dispute, botability or usefulness of iron?

How exactly one would create a bot to take coal, fill smelter, take Ore Boulders, Take Lime, and make Iron bars over and over with all those resources being finite without a "different" bot required to gather those as well?

Woodcutting bots are standard fare in Haven, and getting them to make coal piles wouldn't take that much tinkering. Lime digging is trivial.

And mining, burning, processing ore?

Bots do all of that in Haven, and the differences between Salem and Haven in this sector are largely cosmetic.

Ultimately I'm a defeatist on the topic of the war against the machines.

IDK, I think you did a fairly good job on that front when it comes to inspirationals and farming. In regards to iron, I think the core issue is that it's an end-all be-all when it comes to base defence and C&D grinding. If these things took more diversified activities, iron making would be fine as it is.

Sure, we can come up with more or less elegant workarounds, but when the bots inevitably become sophisticated enough to play the game in its entirety and can pass a Turing test, well... :)

I have yet to see a working bot for Salem apart from my own limebot...

Well recently i have been thinking about fully clearing a 4x4 mini map tile area of everything. This means chopping trees, destroying stumps, leveling all cliff edges, removing all old logs, etc etc.(so its flat in the meaning there will be no cliff edges to get stuck on)

This will give me a 4x4 mini map area fully void of anything, meaning i will be able to make a gatherer bot easy to freely just wonder around this huge huge area, to bot endless inspritionals.

How about it ?
