Its a pointless addition to the game is all. Same mechanics just making instruments less useful. Remember its a game.

pointless is your opposition to other player's suggestions

I could go in your precious idea thread and start trolling but you don't see me doing that... if you don't like the suggestion don't say it's pointless

it's easier, cheaper to use than instruments and can be used in many contexts that instruments cannot

Put in how itd be different? from an instrument? If you got something to say bout my "precious" suggestion go post!

As i said i think whistling would be better used for animal stuff like calling them to you or soothing angry ones or something.

for one you don't play the notes like instruments, would be like a skill you press it and it plays a random melody you learned from listening in town or some other learning method... random melodies could be created with some algorithm... also you don't need to stop what you're doing, just press it if you're allowed and keep doing whatever

We have instruments for people that wanna make music.
I can't imagine a town full of pilgrims all whistling a different melody while they're working not to be annoying. Or Providence, if everyone would just stand around and whistle, I'd probably return to playing the game without sounds, the violin players usually are too much for me already.
They've also added really nice music that changes when you go someplace else, like in a different biome or into a building and many things make a sound on their own now, I don't think we really need to add just another layer of background noise.

+1 to whistling with a use like Neiro suggested.

spamming actions is not really an issue in this game, as everything has a cooldown or some other limitation of time and location... background music is eventually muted by most players, because you want to listen to other stuff or gets tired of it... you're all just no-fun-allowed types, it's why this game is a constipated mod of an original concept... the original game creator has learned his lesson and is back to creating actual fun (http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/vie ... 39&t=46240), while you all simply glorify the grind, for the boring reason you put way too much time into it...

generating random melodies, learning new melodies from other players or imitating birds in the wild, when multiple bird types populate the trees, collecting these things from nature into inspirationals, all while having benefits and not stopping your work... 99% of these ideas are never implemented anyways... there's really no point hating each other's ideas like it's going to be adopted the next patch...

+1 to multiple birds populating trees and singing
every time I hear a crow croak, I think that we also need seagulls to **** all over the place

If whistling ever gets implemented, I'm gonna find you and imitate birds at your gates all day long :P

OMG THIS! Needs implementing so quick! I fked up a few weeks ago. (right before it started snowing like heck in finland) Parked my car outside a lakeside club and after some wellspent time eating dinner with my wife we come back out and the car is barely recognizable by all the friggin bird poo...

I can just imagine seagulls being a pain for the pilgrims on the coast...doing bombardment runs on their Carts
