Hello to everyone!
Recently i met Salem and I am amazed.I spent hours reading the forum and say that even with all the problems have not stopped being amazed.
The issue of permadeath was what attracted me and removes it would kill the game for me. However Salem consumes much time and, I believe a larger base of players attracted by this type of game are older with commitments such as work, school and family. Soon becomes unfeasible invest in something similar.
I quote my example, I hope some of you indentify yourself;
I played Ultima Online for 13 years, 7 years in a RP Shard and these seven years I played with only 4 characters. The Shard was plus RP PvP and permadeath very laborious climb the very macro skills (grinding). But the grind took second place in the face of political and economic dynamics, it was incredible. This is what I expect from Salem, economic relations, political and physical power of course.
But I emphasize that permadeath in the shard that I played became a big problem, because many people stopped playing when they lost their characters. Due to the great effort invested in them and some even cry and become depressed (lol). Developers to solve this problem become with this great idea: a system in which you have 3 points of fainting (vitality) after losing the last point you die.1 vitality is recovered after 1 month. Another positive highlight in my view that a similar system be applied in Salem is located in profitability. Imagine this, you live with your character for 1 year, so you do not want to wait for months to retrieve the point given the real danger of dying, then you advance one month for an amount of real money. Well, it's an idea and everything in it is adjustable. In my view does not lose the momentum of permadeath (by my experience in Ultima Online), solves the problem and is still a lucrative way of developers have the return of their effort.
I'm happy with the opening of the forum for suggestions. I hope my review has been positive. Among others, here is my hug and I apologize for the poor english, because that is not my native language. Hope to see you all in game (unfortunately so far I have not seen anyone). ;)

Didn't you die 3 times in a month last year? :D

From your posted character deaths:

Chief #1 Died 8-30-2012
Chief #2 Died 9-23-2012
Chief #3 Died 9-30-2012

Furthermore:

Chief #4 Died 10-12-2012

So Really you died 4 times in a month and 12 days.

I wish there was non-PvP version of Salem, but there isn't.

Im not saying that i LOVE perm death but if u think about it..if people get no perm death..what do you think they will do when they get everything in the game and know everything? like all other games..leave and try another game but in that case if you can die..you are more on your guard then anything else. you check your mini-map all the time for one big reason..not getting killed and of course for ressources  .On other game you just look at it for where you are or to move( depend the game). If you ever get killed well . you will learn a big lesson..or you just did a *stupid* idea/move and that your sentence..if you din't learn anything well i don't think its the game for you...when you really love a game you don't care to restart.Yeah some day you don't feel for it and you just wait and come back another day that you feel for it.

I assume that being a merchant is so far from being a criminal since you leave your footprint everywhere. So i assume if you love high sensation you should love the perm death to make strategic move on how , where and when to hit your target but so far im just starting so im far from starting to be a criminal.

Of course that my opinion  .
Enjoy your play.
And don't forget ,
This is MADNESS! , no this is SALEM!

I don't understand why this isn't stickied on this board as well. The very nature of the game makes non-PVP an impossibility.

That is a good point; that thread has a lot of applicable thoughts and information for this topic. I suppose I could include it in the opening post.

It has been linked in these threads multiple times. People still whine, *****, and throw rants about various excuses as to why they won't be listened to. As far as I care, these threads could be locked as they're nothing but spamming the same idea over and over with no new arguments to be had.

Two things I have learned over the years as a gamer--People really don't think their requests through, and they are too lazy to learn how to make their own game. I recall a time someone was ***** about how I ran a D&D campaign. I let him DM the next week. He never wanted to do it again. (We all made his life a living hell... he didn't stay with the group much longer, either.)

Seems like you'd save a lot of moderation work if there was a sticky with the most common suggestions and why they may or may not be implemented. People generally don't use the search function and it clutters the place up.

"People" also wouldn't be bothered to read that, either. You can have a FAQ, a manual, and a how-to guide, and people would still ask questions that were answered very clearly in those places.

I'd be willing to do it as it does cut down the amount of posts, but how do we know what really is rejected by the devs? I think the permadeath and non-PvP issues are the only things we can firmly say "No" on. Heck, for the longest time we weren't going to see curios from dead bodies in HnH (even having jorb comment about it at least once), and yet one of the big updates for W7 was skull items (skulls as a curio, a skull mug, skull on a spike, and skull throne). (Reminds me that I need to update the "simple suggestions" thread. I've been getting lazy the last few months.)
