At least the dug up soil reverts to its native state after some time. The pavement has to be actively removed.

I can't be sure of that statement. I had areas not reverting back to their original state months after digging. Could be related to how many times that part of the map loads or if you happen to dig in that area again.

I will be invisible on the map soon. The native soil is expanding at least weekly.

I'm quite positive it's using decay ticks rather than map loading: the soil reverts much faster if you keep an alt logged in closeby (which would prevent the map tile from being unloaded).
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
