Why would I be mad?

The upkeep for a village claim is much less than for a same sized pclaim. That in itself already provides a small incentive. I see no reason why you don't abolish your pclaim right now and recieve 75% of the invested monies back to switch to a village claim before the limited time offer expires. Oh, you don't want people trespassing for free on your claim...that must be it.

I support this idea of having a town bell with the sound having a big area effect. -without the arrow pointing to the location of crime though- if someone wants to refer to a location should be creative enough to make up something like "2 rings - west" :)

I think you are a bit off on the math there.

V-Claim = 40 silver a day for 10,000m3

P=Claim = 37 silver a day for 10,000m3

P-claim is currently cheaper and better.

Its ok though I wouldn't expect a squatter to grasp such complicated technology such as arithmetic.

Ok, you got me there. On that note, I would say that the pclaim upkeep mechanic is broken. Having a village claim should save you more money in the long run vs a pclaim of the same size.

How does that change with extending the vclaim with boundary stones/crosses of saint george? because you dont need to keep a "rectangular" shape, it may be more efficient to use the vclaim if you are larger than the base size?

It gets massively worse because the crosses must be placed on an EXISTING V-claim. Which means that typically 25-50% of the cross Sq Ft. is backtracking over V-claims that are already claimed. Thus making the V-claim drain exponentially worse the larger it gets. I wager a P-Claim the size of StaxHax base would have saved him at least 50%. But how else are the noobs going to learn if not trial and error right? I'm sure that was a way better idea than simply using a calculator.

It should be possible to live with people you don't entirely trust, i.e. under separate pclaims but same vclaim. How else are cities going to be built once the game has more players & content?
Perhaps the squares under pclaim and vclaim should not need to charge upkeep to the vclaim, thus cunningly implementing "taxation" by the mayor.

No, you can place flags so you utilize 100% of the space that you can gain from the authority object. It just requires wasting materials because you have to destroy every other flag that you build.

You clever devil you. But then again. How do you destroy the flags if they are not on P-claims? Are you dropping P-claims under flags to destroy them or letting your bell run out?

P.S. I counted your flag spacing :) You havn't done this.

I didn't learn about the feature when I was first spacing flags, so I just left them cuz I'm rich IRL and spend 100s of dollars in village upkeep per month. I would say majority of the flags are 50 tiles apart though ;p

Anyways, do the math. I gain 2500m^2 for every flag, that costs me only 5 more upkeep per day. How much would it cost you for an additional 2500 square meters on a pclaim?
