What should Post Expedition Updates look like?

None. Leave us alone let the server be stable, and update in between expeditions.

For big changes it should be tested out on expedition first.

This is what I think is best. Maybe throw in an inspirational or something fun every so often, but I think big changes should happen after expeditions have tested them out. Give the devs a little break maybe?

I would still love new inspritionals once per week, even if they are small and fun.

More items like French frys please, i love making my french friends giggle with them.

If there is a "one big patch" system than you can expect the server to crash much more frequently as there are several more mechanics than the usual 1month patch drop, so servers will be down for longer periods, then you have everyone whining about server instability.

But we also have longer time, so more code-checking (no more excuses ¦] ), more testing, etc. Generally will be less crashing?
You can open up test server for public testing instead of only the "secret group", people can report bugs and stuff, of course the main balancing will still be done by the dedicated "Master Mason group"

In theory the expedition server becomes something of a test server, bugs and thus downtime gets worked out there.

That would be in conflict with the goal of being a highly competitive battle ground right?
Or maybe more drama for bug-abuses, raid-reverting and all ¦] ¦]

It's easy to just say "oh i want more updates as frequent as posible". Because that is what keeps a Sandbox alive and interesting.
If this method doesn't interfere with the biggest updates for the next expedition that's the way to go, You can also add more ways to perma-die which wouldn't be on Providence, making expeditions way more of a challenge.

If the patches are going to contain new content then there WILL be issues, so they should accept that and only push new "safe content" straight to providence. Use the expeditions for the big new stuff and try to keep Providence up and running. By the end of the expedition they should be sure that all the bugs are ironed out and they can merge the changes onto providence.

Well, reading your post and you changed it.

with some research and understanding of current mechanics, insanity and madness will ensure new players play efficiently the same it has forced most most vets to do. If they choose to still play in a crazy maner then smoking can offset that.

Insanity overall seems like a good thing.
