Patch Frequency?

Postby JohnCarver » Thu Jun 11, 2015 6:04 pm

Greetings Salemites,
With the "Final" patch approx 1 week away we are beginning to wonder what the future development schedule will look like during Expeditions.

On the one hand we like generating content and generally have fun doing so.

On the other, it creates a turbulent and unstable environment when things are in a constant state of flux especially when an expedition is going on where players are making large competitive decisions based on existing mechanics.

Approx 90 days into the first Expedition we will announce the "Second Expedition" and each Expedition we intend to introduce at least one new "Industry" along with whatever mechanics we can piggy back onto it. However, what to do in the 4-? Months it takes for the first expedition to end? How frequently should we update? How large in scope should those updates be?

Your thoughts on this matter will largely dictate the future development schedule and roadmap.

I would suggest possibly godly intervention if an expedition begins to stall out. Perhaps give all players more biles to kinda speed things along. I would not like the idea of having a new expedition come out when the first one is so far from being finished because statues are too well defended for a small group. Witches were killed off early or something like that.

Other than that I think the frequent patches are great they add an ever changing flavor to the game. The amount of interaction you have with us is something to be commended as you know your community of players.

I'll be watching it closely (and playing). The fuse on cannons could be shortened, or other general small changes that would make bases (and therefore statues) less defensible. However, I am going to be VERY careful about adjusting anything too heavily. if the players AT LARGE and working hard to not let the expedition end, then the people have spoken so why would I dabble too heavily?

Nope. The only reason would be if for some reason Salem becomes "The next big thing" and we simply cannot afford to keep everybody on 2 servers. Given that I don't expect that to be happening I think its safe to say we will have only one expedition at any given time.

also some talk about some new some skills you can not see to be able to learn and do not know what you need ..

new player and middle player - They will have s hard ... and player without groups... friends
\(*o*)\ Praying in the Marp Church may reduce the time for update /(*o*)/

My ideas is to frequently push bugfixes along with new art contents, maybe with the tears section intact ¦] , so people won't be waiting. Essentially anything that is small and stable.
For big changes it should be tested out on expedition first.

Pretty much the same way I feel
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I would enjoy 4 large patches per year.
