Please rethink towns

Postby rustles » Sun May 17, 2015 3:26 am

I believe that town mechanics are currently really really REALLY flawed such that it discourages people from wanting to create/join/invite people to towns.

the problem:

The fact that you have to pay the king money for a personal claim within town land that you are already paying for is completely ridiculous. Most people see this as a "waste" and most of the time disallow members to p-claim. Obviously this leads to MASSIVE trust issues about who they allow into the village, as anybody can steal all the **** or destroy everything or claim everything when nobody is around. The most famous case of this happening was that time Darworth tricked a village into recruiting his alt, and then come along and claimed/destroyed/looted the entire town on his main. It is clear this is the number one reason why the vast majority of players are not apart of a town.

The solution:

The cost of a personal claim inside of a town should instead be paid to the town, directly into the bell.

If everybody had their own personal claim within the village, the trust issue would mostly vanish as each player can decide who they trust with what, and stops people from claiming the village to grief. Of course the major has the power to revoke the personal claim if they abuse the privilege.

The fact that players have to pay for their own land within the town greatly reduces the upkeep of the town that the founder/leader has to pay for personally, thus encouraging the foundation of more villages, and the recruitment of more people.

Another thing: make player-run stalls with the option to set taxes that go to the town bell, which are completely adjustable by the major from 0% to 100%. And pls have a buy AND sell option.

Please consider making these changes for when you eliminate teleportation to old boston ;) I believe these improvements will make the game far more enjoyable and realistic.

You clearly lack ANY understanding of the game and current mechanics.

Please elaborate. The knowledge I have about towns is all from what I have read, since nobody is willing to trust recruiting me and 99.99% of the rest of the players due to flawed mechanics.

I do plan on founding my own town soon so pls be nice :(

Towns can already limit your rights so you can't betray them along with limiting your access with keys on gates. You can place a pclaim so you can do w.e you want on it. The only thing from keeping a town from recruiting you is you.

It is our findings that only reckless and careless villages are having problems recruiting. Thoughtful and careful villages have no issues. Thus meaning this is only a problem for those who quite frankly don't deserve the luxuries of a town in the first place.

This fully doesn't address the issue of someone claiming the entire village and destroying/looting it.

The both of you are suggesting that anybody without a year+ of forum rep should simply not get recruited into any village or else you are "reckless". I am simply suggesting that you change the mechanics a bit so that everyone can unclench their anus a little bit about recruiting and give noobs the opportunity to enjoy being a part of a town.

Even still nobody has mentioned the part where you have to pay twice for the same land though, which was the original issue of the thread

This is all just a bad post of a kid talking about mechanics he knows nothing about, to waste any time trying to explain to a retard like this is like trying to tell the jehovas witnesses that come door to door that you do not give two ***** about their religion.

You are aware there is a full-blown trial member system and that towns can leave players there as long as they like until they are sure that the player is trustworthy, thus mostly eliminating the 'risk' in the first place?
