Well, the problem of the random spawns should have been resolved with the last updates.

Anyway, Procne, what i would like to see avoided is that a small village can handle all the resources of the game of its own in a relatively small, enclosed area.
And you can't talk much about trading for convenience in a game like this. Menial labours like getting grass for hay can and will be botted. Lime too, at a minor extent.
Unless you talk about getting it a lime deposit...and that is exactly what i'm pointing to. If you don't live near a lime deposit, you can't gain directly from it. It is a local resource and it wouldn't be traded with far people if it weren't for Boston. If there was no teleport, some people could try to own the area (even fighting for it) in order to have an advantage, and eventually trading with other people (maybe also using stalls) to gain profit from it. Some people from more far lands could try to trade as well, but due to the time they'll need traveling, they probably won't be as competitive unless they cut some of their profits (assuming that the one who own the deposit makes fair prices).
And that could be told also for precious and rare metals, if they will ever be implemented.
Sure, i can't deny we would need more depth on the industries to do a similar thing. But they have to be designing with a similar target, and we can't know about that. But imho, if they want people to really have to trade, they've got to force it...cause that's how it works in real life as well. Merchants wouldn't have traded on the silk road if they could have got the same products near their home, after all.

I agree with your proposal. One thing I disagree is the random Hudson Bay Company Office, I think they should be hireable.
Salem would be a truly awesome game with this kinda of system. Horses and wagons instead of teleports make much more sense.
