So, I did a search and found nothing about tapping trees for sap. So this shouldn't some boring repeat of the same ol shiz.
I was hungry, for bacon. So I made some bacon.. Canadian style.. frying it with maple syrup, and I had this idea.. about 5 minutes ago while I was eating my bacon.
Salem has Maple Trees.. they have sap, and then WE HAS MAPLE SYRUP!
http://www.canadianmaplesyrup.com/maplehistory.html for history, and it would fit in nicely with Salem.
Trees just need Purity.. we have the technology.. forestry. How tree purity is done, is probably written somewhere else, or in the works.
Back to syrup..
You first need a maple Grove.. or at least 1 tree to start. Grand Maple, since the trees need to have a large diameter to tap. Perhaps odds of growing these through forestry could be reduced slightly.
Tree Tap:
1 metal bar
- Tap UI -> When a tree has a tap, hold the bucket then r-click the tree to collect the sap. Say sap is produced at a rate of 0.10 units per hour, 100 hours to fill a bucket.
Boiling Sap...( I dunno wtf cauldrons hold, or what their future function is. so I guessed)
1 cauldron, holds 100 units of any liquid, in this case, sap.
Sap is boiled for 15 minutes or so, and inside the cauldron(if it had a UI) will be 2-5 "Maple Syrup" (Perhaps Syrup yield could be effected by Pots & Pans level)
Syrup can be further boiled down to create sugar. So.. we can eliminate the need to purchase 0% purity sugar from the shop, and work on high purity sugars for tastier foods.
Maple Syrup can be part of new and wonderful recipes.. Like Maple Bacon.. The Baconator (3 bear steaks, 6 Maple bacon, and a 1% chance at a coronary episode resulting in a permanent loss of 5 of each humor.)
Other trees can be tapped for other things. Softwoods(spruce, pine fir, hemlock) sap is sticky as hell, and a good binding agent. Their sap is also a great way to make pitch. The resin is also an awesome fire starter in soaking wet forests when any possible tinder is damp. Pitch could be useful for something..Maybe Napalming enemy villages or something. http://www.primitiveways.com/pine_pitch_stick.html So I don't have to explain it... There is a faster way, but your resin catches fire more often, and is very dangerous when drunk or high as fcuk. I have scars to prove it.
Think that's it..
