I'd rather just shoot it. Then I have dinner and a nice new belt. ;)

Point is that if you dodge/avoid/run from initial agro the snake should de-agrro as soon as you open any distance on it if its behavior is to be at all like a real snakes.

Dude some snakes are very aggressive and it defers between them. I've seen copper heads and cotton mouths that don't take **** from anyone. The cotton mouth charged a bit but would stop open its mouth and wiggle the tail like a rattle snake. Thankfully my .22 loaded with shot doesn't take **** either. My buddie during USMC training in CA told me about the rattlers being really aggressive with people.

If you turn on wander or even better run you can get away from them very easy and they will drop agro.

Did it chase you down for the length of a football field, charging at someone and chasing down are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS. Seriously your defending the current Snake AI when their literally is ONE AI being re-used for every hostile Animal (Agrro then Pursue till someone dies), this behavior is just boring and lacks any verisimilitude, every hostile animal is dealt with the same way. Saying that a snake that doesn't chase you down would be easier is completely beside the point, the snake can always be modified in some other way to maintain a desired difficulty.

I didn't give it the chance to.

Sounds to me like you are getting to close to snakes and taking a KO now you are pissed because its not "real". Wait till they actually kill players. Snakes are fine watch your minimap.

I agree with all of you who says leave the snake alone, but sometimes you just bump into it by accident, and sometimes the snake even decide to take resident in your camp. I think a skill that allows you to avoid the snakes (in practise let the snake leave you alone) would be a great way to remove this nuisance which in my opinion may be fun for a while, but for a peaceful farmer is and never will be more than a nuisance.

About snake behaviour: If anybody has seen a snake actually chase you for more than a few meters, I'd like some documentation. I simply never heard of of such behaviour. Human beings are not natural prey of Rattle snakes, and they have to conserve energy for the real prey.

Settling and Simple Fences
Get those two skills, place a claim, and put up a fence. You will never have a snake in your camp again unless you bring it there.
