also why are solo people forced to make alts or trade with other people? its a tier 2 metal when tier 3 is soloable?

I'm not trying to be confrontational here, but it's odd to me that you say tier 3 metal is soloable and tier 2 is not, yet you need 8 of the tier 2 metal to make the coffins for a furnace full of tier 3 metal.

i never said tier 2 is not soloable im saying solo players should not have to control 5 alts to make wrought iron. when tier 3 takes 0 alts to make and 7 days.

i dont see a game breaking issue making it so people have a choice to either make wrought with alts or through the coffin method.

I have made wrought solo, with no alts, its just inefficient. Group play should be encouraged. So if anything tier 3 should require more group involvement to be efficient. Just saying, it can go both ways.

It is still entirely doable solo (with alts), it is just hard for new (solo) players.

The underlying problem though is, that it is no fun, even as a group activity it is NOT fun.
None of my friends would willingly help with wrought iron.

Next thing is, if you are well able to run 3 chars at once, and you go slow with 4/6 slots, there is no benefit of having even 1 more player help, as you will spend a higher total in man-hours making wrought with 2 or more players than just solo.
(granted, the coal per bar efficiency will be slightly higher, but coal is really no issue in this equation)

I know this is hard, but the underlying "minigame" needs to be fun, that is the most important part here. And currently it is NOT.
Second, just raising requirements to participate and make everything cost phlegm does nothing to an established player/player group, just hurts new players.
Third, though Salem is a game of alts in many ways, and I know this part is really tricky, it should be just better to have more players participate, as I pointed out already, having 1 player with 3 chars is already a point that does not benefit from any more players, that is wrong here.

Which 'mini game' do you enjoy? Wondering where your precedent for a 'fun' mini game derives from in Salem.

I am all ears when it comes to unique and 'fun' mini games. I personally think that the wrought iron production is largely different than many other activities in Salem and for that reason I do actually find it quite fun.

This is a mmo, the game should not be changed to pander to hermits will little patience to do things they find boring. Most things in the game will get repetitive and boring when you have done enough of it. That's why there are so many people pushing noobs to do collecting or sell them mundane easy to make stuff. The difference between a good player and one who will likely not achieve anything of significance, is that the good player can fight through the tedious jobs to achieve great things. That or they find ways around doing what they don't want to.

I'm currently building 150 x 150 plank wall to surround my first town borders. Coming on everyday and having to saw boards for drying, then planing them, has become mind numbing due to getting no help from my so called companion. I am pushing through it though. I don't come on here and ask JC for a chain saw.
The simple solution to your problem and my own is to collaborate with others.
I'll also add that making wrought iron with an alt or 2 and some white tea is easy as hell.

I also didn't mean this post to come off like I'm classing myself as a good player that will achieve great things. I'm referring to others.

It's not at all unprecedented for people to make "Town surrounding walls" that are substantially bigger and at least that expensive, too.

Like Brick walls that have a total perimeter such that you by far cannot even see the actual town inside.

I know that, are you hinting my walls are rubbish?
I'm just saying, drying out 2k+ boards alone is tedious after a while. Not to mention the 16 border stones materials. Still doing it though.
If it was my choice though, I would make it even slower to cut boards on your own. Then add a 2 person bow saw that makes the process faster for doubling up on the task. I'd do the same thing for cutting trees as well.

I like the way the game rewards you with better things getting achieved when you work together with people and think that needs expanding with new methods. I don't think it's a good idea making everything easy for people to do alone. In my opinion it will ebb away at the community and politics in the game.
