I can't offer much help besides acknowledging your frustration and giving your thread a bump.

Are you using just the default client? Have you tried ender's or latikai client?

Well, I'm sure I've broken mine. I came back to see this new release and had no trouble with vanilla. I believe I even had the witch hat icon on my desktop but I hate the vanilla cam soooo much (surprised they didn't incorporate ender's into this final? release) i went looking for another client. Long story short.... I can launch each(3) client but must do it through its updater and that takes a long time as compared to the witch hat that I haven't seen again. The other launch files don't hold my user/pass and when I enter them it doesn't connect. If I take the 5 minutes to go through the updaters I get the normal screen with my identity saved and can get right in. Aaarrgghhh!!! I cannot continue to play with vanilla cam for any real length of time without getting a terrible headache and eyestrain. I must be overlooking something and would appreciate any thoughts as to a solution.
Thanks
Kwyl

Until you find a fix, I can suggest changing the camera in the default client.

How to access the console - Begin typing the command with the colon :
You will see the console text in the bottom left corner of your Salem window

For freestyle camera use :cam sucky
here is more info

lol, When the devs are forced to give us nice things, they still refuse to acknowledge it. Welcome to the inside of jorb's mind.

Note to others reading: OP still needs some help!

Looks like I might have found a possible solution here, but I don't know if it will work.

Effectively, the .dlls causing this should probably go in a different location. Windows is acting up by denying permissions for access by Java/Salem. It is possible another .dll is the one being blocked from use.

If I read the report I linked correctly, you could simply delete the gluegen-rt.dll file when Salem starts acting up and the launcher will redownload it. Of course, this means launching Salem will take longer frequenly.

Also, other reports say that Microsoft's Security Essentials could be what is causing this. The couple of similar issues from around the Internet on this are a year or two old prior to Win8, so not sure if it would still be relative. Besides, disabling security software long term in today's networked computer world isn't a good idea, though.

I'm not sure if adding exceptions to Windows for Java, Salem, or the necessary .dlls will fix it. Sorry, my head is mush today and can't think straight. If these suggestions don't work, I'll keep trying. As always, if anyone else can come up with an idea, feel free to post it.

Well Champie, that's my fix.(still no witch hat though. only java) So glad you clued me in. Hope the OP has as easy of a time sorting their thing out. I would just delete it all and start over but I used to reformat my hdd when it acted up too so..... :) Anyway, thanks again.
