Turkey Sandwich counts as any bread for turkey sandwich

If you aren't careful - you can end up making a turkey sandwich using an existing turkey sandwich in your inventory for the any bread component of the recipe.

So, you can use turkey sandwich as 'bread' to make .... turkey sandwich.
Not very convenient for mass production of those.

Sounds like government quality work. Give them a turkey sandwich, pay fees and additional taxes for government to procure substandard food products, then wait in line to get a funky smelling turkey sandwich back. It's a perfect simulation, not a bug!

Then why aren't cabbage cakes usable as bread in recipes?
They're bread with cabbage inbetween.
Or dry pie, that's basically bread too.
