"Could not connect to server"

So, I have scoured the internet as will as this board and cannot find my solution.

When I run Salem, I am met with "Could not connect to server".

The servers are up so that's not the issue.
I disabled my firewall so that's not the issue.
I am currently in the country of Qatar, I have no idea if that is the issue.
Installed it on two computers, reinstalled it on both... twice.

I am pretty much left, scratching my head, unable to figure this out. Salem looks like a really cool game and I would love to give it a shot. Anyone have a suggestion?

Once your firewall is disabled, you have to reboot.
If you cannot connect btw, it can be a problem with windows (if your firewall is from windows then... well), and you may want to add Salem as a wanted program in the options of the firewall. Once done, reboot, and retry.

And if it doesn't still help, then I can't say more since I know nothing more :(

I'm pretty sure even windows is able to update the firewall without rebooting.

There was an issue with the default client until a a short time ago where it would cause a "could not connect to server error". Do you have the same error with one of the custom clients? If so, it might be that your network operator is blocking certain port numbers. You'll need to be able to connect to ports 1871 (TCP) and 1870 (UDP)
