Salem

I've been playing for a few weeks. Today I went inside a building and got stuck on the black loading screen. I can still look at the menus, but I can't move or leave. I can change to another character - the other character works fine.

Same problem with either Ender's or vanilla clients.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling java, but it didn't help. I tried installing Salem on a different machine and I have the same issue - alt character works fine but main is stuck on loading screen.

Any advice?

Ok, I ate up the food in my inventory, dropped the rest (farewell, trusty bucket!), and ported home. Now I can play again.

I have the same problem. When I go upstairs screen turns black and....loading... can someone explain what is going? i tried to enter other buildings, it was ok, but only when i go on the second floor the screen turns black and loads something.

Support your problem! I have this problem too. Please fix this.

It might be a corrupt resource file or something like that is causing you to get render errors.
Have you tried to delete Ender's cache at ~/.salem ?

Also, when you reinstalled Java, did you go for Java 6 or 7 ? Note that Ender's thread specifically states that there are stability issues with Java 7 that do not occur with Java 6.

I have this problem in the oficial client too.

I used Java 7 on both machines - I didn't think about trying Java 6.

It is not java! Yesterday everything was fine but today I find this problem.

which is exactly what makes me think it was java. Ever heard of auto-updates? I always turn them off, but not everyone does so.

Disregard my earlier advice on the cache, it wouldn't result in the same error in both clients (as they save their caches in different places).

Can your other character enter the said building ? Do you still get the error when entering the building ?

I had the error on two different machines - one was a fresh install of Salem. I doubt the issue is on my end.

I don't think I'll test that building again - I wandered for about an hour to go back for my rowboat and I think I'm about halfway there.
