This bug affects Windows 8, Windows 7 (both Java 6 since 7 doesn't work) and my Mac (java 7)

Until it's fixed I can't play Salem :(

Are you absolutely sure it's the same bug? Do you get the same error message ("Wrong res version (5 != 6)") on the same resource (gfx/borka/admiral-kjol)?

If so, you are very welcome to follow the instructions in the bug report, so that I might be able to fix it. :)

Yes it is definitely the same for the two windows machines, I'll have to double check the mac later in the day.

I've sent the capture in a pm from the Win7 machine.

I'm sure it is the endclient. However, the bug impacts all of my systems and I've tried Java 6 and 7

Enderclient != endclient.

Thank you for the reply, however.. no change with the custom client.

Tried adding my system to the dmz, no change there either.

Okay I found a workaround for bug 145.

The file causing the crash isn't downloading basically, so grab it from someone who doesn't have the bug and put it into the folder:

Should be under c:\users\yourusername\.salem

**edit**

You may need to have enders client installed for this to work because sometimes the .salem folder doesn't appear in that directory.

Get someone who has a working salem game to zip that .salem folder, email it to you and then copy it over the other one.

Now in game! :)

I had a look at the packet dump you PM'd me, krellian, and I do find it a bit perplexing. Your client does not even seem to attempt to download the resource, for some reason. I can't really think of any reason why it wouldn't do that, however. Are you perhaps using some strange proxy settings? (Check the Java control panel.)

Hi Loftar,

No special java settings, this problem impacts a Win7, Win8 and Mac machine with a fresh install of Java 6 and 7 on any of them.

Maybe I should set a proxy up to see if I get a different result? Will try this if I run into the issue again.
