You have something blocking your connection and/or java from connecting. Antivirus/firewall/router/ISP

How far are you getting? Has the complete game download to Java yet? Do you just get an error message when you log in? Does the game crash when you start it? If you do get any error messages, make sure to post them. You need to describe what you're doing and seeing, otherwise we can't provide any help on what to fix.

I am having a similar issue where after downloading the game and launching it, I am unable to login.

After about 1minute of "Authentication" I get an error saying "Connection timed out: connect".
The servers are up and I have tried clearing the cache as well as allowing all of the Java.exe stuff in my firewall.
No antivirus.

Any solutions?
Thanks!

P.S. Could it be because of my location? Is this game region restricted? I currently reside in the UAE(United Arab Emirates).

Have you checked your router out to see if it's the problem? You can do this by using another network. Ports TCP 1871 and UDP 1870 need to be open for Salem to connect to the server. There may be another issue such as security software blocking a connection, too. Check any software you're running and make sure Java (and Java apps if necessary) can establish connections to the Internet. Otherwise, it may be a more general issue some have had such as a router that is causing general communication errors or a bad connection to the server (would require contacting your service provider or doing network troubleshooting to determine).

edit: no, there's no restrictions from server-side. You might need to consult with your service provider about any local restrictions. (Sorry, not familiar with restrictions and such from around the world.)

Thank you for your response!

I have recently re-installed W7 so there are currently no applications which might interfere with Java.

As far as the router goes... well I never had issues with any connectivity with other games except for MC but after I've port-forwarded it worked.

However I tried it with Salem as well, now I am not guru with this stuff but it still doesn't work, here is a pic because I have a feeling I did something wrong ._.

Thank you for your time and help!

EDIT: Just in case here is the pic of the message I'm getting:

ALSO: It doesn't matter what I type in the login/password, it shows the same message.

Salem itself isn't the executable. The executable is javaw.exe. No idea if this will make a difference, but it may. Also, if you're running Windows, Windows Firewall is on by default. I don't recall what mode it is in by default. Make sure that Java is on the allowed list if the firewall is set to be more restrictive.

I'm far from a tech guru myself. I do what I can to help, but I wish it could be more. I'm just too much of a "hands on" person to be successful at remote client issues.

Thanks for the help!
Take care))
