Could not connect to server

Postby Ellerillen » Wed Feb 27, 2013 8:44 am

This problem mocks me second day, and nothing helps. Reinstalled Java, both clients, Ender's and original, killed the firewall, still nothing. No errors, just client could not connect to server, when it is perfectly working and my friends are in game.
Could someone help me please? T_T

And, sorry for my English, grammar is my personal nightmare...

What security software are you using? A few programs only partially shut off when you disable them and can still interfere.

Have you checked your router to make sure your connecting? Make sure ports TCP 1871 and UDP 1870 are open.

I'm using Norton 360, and before there wasn't any problem with it.
Port forwarding in the router menu didn't help. Still can not connect.
Only change that was on my computer - Java auto-updated that evening. In the next morning game wasn't in the mood to connect.

Check to see if Java's security settings are set to "Prompt User" or lower (compared to don't allow). Also make sure your overall Internet settings allow for various connections. I believe it should be at Medium-High at the highest to be sure (feel free to adjust just to check if there's an issue). I looked though the settings list for the first time since the recent update (Java 7u15), and it appears a few of the options may have been reorganized, and if the were at a certain setting, it may have moved to a higher security setting.

If Java auto-updated and is causing a problem, uninstalling and reinstalling the older version, and then making sure to turn off auto-updates, should fix the issue.

You don't need to turn on port forwarding or anything like that. You need to check your router's port table and make sure that those ports aren't blocked. If the router is set to block ports automatically other than the commonly used ports for gaming or the web (it should be as this is most secure), you need to add exceptions for the two I mentioned.

I didn't even known that Java has it's own security O___o
Latest Java on low security settings - still can't connect.
Java version 7u11 - same.
Java 6u41 - error starting (for Ender's client)

But original running and logging (thank's God, MagicManICT, Ctulhu, whatever!!!!!)
So, i'l continue to search for proper Java version, thank you very much!

Ps: If anyone have this problem, Java 6u29, build 1.6.0_29-b11 runs perfectly on both clients.

hi, I had this problem too after the client crashed while in game.
What I did to fix it is
- kill all javaw or javaws process running (ctrl+shift+escape)
- run cmd, then type 'javaws -uninstall' and relaunch the game from the website .jnpl (account => launch game)
Hope it helps ++

To note, this is the exact same thing as opening the Java options and clearing the cache the same way.
