Tools/object disappear

Hello,

Yesterday and today I placed down the following items - a tanning tub, a coal pile, a board pile, a clay trough and a sawbuck. When I just logged the piles are gone and the tub is missing but the clay trough is here???
What is happening - I lost my claim, now this - it totally killed my desire to come back to the game.

Regards,
John Keel

Were they placed on a claim? If not they may have decayed or been 'stolen'.

Can coal pile be stolen? Or maybe decay? And after what time - the coal pile may be 3 days old but the wooden pile was just few hours. And weird enough the clay trough and the tub were place exactly at the same time (i think the tub was on the claim and the trough outside) and the tub is gone. Also when I travel to Boston I see the tub on my cursor - like in placing mode (but you can't place in Boston) and when I travel back it is gone. Is it just me or there is something fishy going on here?

Decay is completely random, and has something to do with the map being loaded or the terrain being altered. The only way to protect objects from decaying is by having them on a claim (personal or village).

I got a new theory - I found a large farm to the north of me - they have like 2x my stuff. 2 tubs, 2 sawbucks, 2 cooking tables (no bakery cause this can't be moved). I think I used to know the guy who lived there and I am almost certain he is gone. So maybe someone re-claimed his old farm and he is helping himself to the plots nearby. I can't protect myself against that (I mean I can steal my stuff back but I am not this type of person). And making few silver a day (at best) won't get me enough for expanding a large claim and paying the mortgage. I guess I will look for a buddy to share the rent with :)

p.s.You should seriously rethink the whole anonymity thing - can't message the guy, cant tell if it is Jack or Joe, can't send him stuff (like food etc).
