Crash - Unable To Launch Application

Postby Solar » Fri Feb 01, 2013 8:27 am

Yesterday whilst playing happily, I suddenly get this crash out of no where.
This crash has stopped me from being able to play, I've tried clearing my cache and everything.
Sure it lets me login when i clear the cache but creating a new character or logging into my old character causes it to crash again putting me in the same situation I was in.

Please help and anyone else having the same issue.

That screenshot is thoroughly unhelpful. Better would have been to use the "Save all information..." command and post the dump. That'd be way more information than we'd need.

(As much as I'd like to help, help me help you. Don't use images to convey this information. In the future, simply click the middle of the window, press Ctrl+a to select all, ctrl+c to copy to clipboard, and then, in your post, ctrl+v to paste it in. My glasses are bad and I can't read the text in those images. Note: only need the information from the Exceptions tab.)

Looks like you went through more work than necessary. I couldn't make out exactly what the problem was, but I saw there was a socket error of some sort in there. This has to do with your network and/or security setup. It could be that Java corrupted on a recent update and needs to be reinstalled.

Okay sorry will do that in future.
Yes my graphics card is up to date, I've took advice of other 'unable to launch application' threads & changed a piece of code in registry that still didn't seem to fix the problem.

I've tried deleting my java cache which dosen't solve the,. i then delete the application in java & try to install it from the deleted section in java but it still dosen't work, so I tried deleting it entirely from java which then it still didn't work untill i restarted my computer?

Then when it works I get the same crash as before, even after trying to create a new character or using my old one..

Nothing has changed with my internet connection & I confirm salem was working perfectly fine before.. I was just walking along foraging & bam this crash hit me.
My accounts - Mainess

I hope this information helps to thin it down to a fix to this problem

its crazy business & driving my mad as i am determined to play.

EDIT: Okay, I've tried reinstalling java already but it didn't seem to work & I noticed some preset settings where still there.
From just that i know java leaves traces of files after uninstalling it, so im gonna try revo uninstaller to completely remove all traces of java & then reinstall it too see if this fix's the problem. If it does I will let you know

Doing a bit of digging (copied the image over into paint and zoomed it in). There's a few possible issues here.

Once is Java itself is corrupt. You'll have to uninstall and use a utility off the Internet to make sure it's wiped out. Reboot and reinstall Java.

A second is that your security software or network isn't functioning or configured correctly. Make sure everything is allowing the proper protocols (http, TCP/UDP) and ports are open (TCP 1871, UDP 1870). Make sure you're not running any software that could interfere with this.

Already said about using revo uninstaller to completely remove all traces of java before reinstalling it again lol :P in my above post.
I have not installed anything that may stop me from using salem & my router settings have not changed what so ever.

I'll go into my router settings and open these ports aswell later too see if this helps :) after I've got this cracked version of revo uninstaller lol

EDIT: Uninstalling Java now

EDIT: Installing Java Now (Wish me luck)

EDIT: Java online version fails, offline version installing

EDIT: Installed (BIG TEST)

EDIT: Problem Presists
