Hello everyone I wish to play this awesome game but all of a sudden when I go to launch the client it said "UNABLE TO LAUNCH APPLICATION". I have a Mac and I was able to play the game fine before and now it won't work for some reason. Any suggestions to fix this?

I've opened a technicality thread about Mac not opening the client. During the day I have learned that it is most likely caused by Apple blocking the use of Java because of serious security issues caused by Oracle's developers doing make-shift patches. One article even suggests that the new Java 7 update secretly erases Java 6 on some machines (including windows).

"Secretly"? It's well published that Oracle will, unless otherwise informed not to, remove deprecated versions of Java from your system when updating. (OK, maybe not well published, but anyone that pays attention to the details will easily find it.) It's not a bug. Java 6 was originally slated for this a good 4-6 months ago (want to say nearly a year ago), but several critical bugs kept it from happening. If this is the case, then I think we can say that there's not going to be any more updates for Java 6 at this point other than major security issues (which has been the case for the last year, anyway), if support isn't completely dropped.
Java 7 has been out for well over a year now. The fact that it's still so buggy bothers me. I wonder how much of this has been caused by Oracle's buyout of Sun.

I only report what I read in the three articles on the matter.
I personally don't think only giving a user 1 year to upgrade from Java 6 to 7 is sufficient time. Not when considering the cost of software, computers and/or the current state of economy in the world. But then again, that could be just me. I still use a 4,5 year old computer with Snow Leopard despite the launch of Lion and Mountain Lion.

Let me correct myself here. The original public release of Java 7.x was July 2011, so there's been 18 months. Developers have had a good bit more time than that to snsure their software updated to run on Java 7.
The issue really isn't that the old version of Java is removed. Adobe does this along with several other companies and nobody cries foul. The issue is that Java 7 still has huge gaping holes in it.

Well it turns out Apple blocked Java 6 and lower so I can't play Salem on my Mac anymore.

Don't get me wrong, here. I love Apple for their innovation and the standards they try to set. However, it's things like this that I will never own a Mac for anything other than a development platform. Personally, I'm sick of Microsoft, too, but what's the other option? Linux? Given the complete lack of support for variety in hardware and the need to run WINE or an actual install of Windows to game, what's the point?
