Unable to download client

Hello everyone!
I'm unable to download the client. I have Java 7 on my machine, and the download starts, but immediately gets stuck and never progresses. Any ideas?
I'm not getting any virus warnings or windows consent pop up boxes.
Thanks for your time,
Remy

If any of you use AVG, AVG doesn't let anything through if it has to do with Java. Uninstalling AVG worked for me.

Yup, it has to do with firewall/antivirus program not being able to validate the client when it is downloading. Another problem would be if you have Windows UAC enabled on higher than normal settings (optimal settings are just to turn it off imo).

And here I've been considering changing to AVG the last few months... No way to get Java to work with it or is it just too much of a hassle?

My Vista rig has AVG and started the client right up. The Win 7 machine will not go past maybe 15%. Been at it for hours. Already disabled UAC and cleared the Java Cache.

I never had problems on win7, although there is a rather old bug reported in Java where jnlp downloads appear to hang apparently caused by some validation issues. Depending on which version of Java you have, try downgrading to Java6. Try using a 32 bit version of java even if you have a 64 bit machine. I also heard its not good to have both 32 and 64 bit installed on the same system.
