Heya;

Not sure if this is a bug or working as intended. I started the beta a couple days ago, got some skills and did the free homestead deal with the guy in town.

Problem is my "home " is on the side of a cliff, i can't go up or down and only have about 2 screens i can move around in then I am stuck. Is the a normal thing?

normal, no, but it does happen. At this point, you can just abandon the character and start a new one or teleport back to the main colony town and set off on your own. Once you get the "Hiking" skill, you can build your own lean-to wherever you want. It doesn't take much to get hiking, either.
