Terrible graphic issue once fireplace is lit

Postby Agent713 » Wed Nov 14, 2012 2:05 pm

Everything was going great until i lit the fireplace...
I have the latest Java, gfx is up to date and i've checked everything I can think of at this moment but i must be missing something.
AMD Radeon HD 6650 1Gb Ram
4Gb Ram
Intel Core i5 2450
Java v7 update 9
*forgot to mention I'm on Win7 64bit

When I open inv, backpack or anything else its just the same as the minimap and other buttons. Can't do anything but click and hope for the best. I ported to Boston and logged out/in and turned shadows on, went back home and was fine for a minute till it freaked out again. If i try changing shadows on or off I can get the majority to correct but the inv, map and buttons still is messed up. btw, turning shadows on/off does not stay saved so I'm in and endless cycle of mess. Also I'm using the normal client, no frills here. Keep in mind this only happened when I lit the fire. Yes I did read about which chipsets arent working properly and I tried for a solution there but my CCC does not have an option to change the OpenGL so advice would be great. Thanks!

Thanks, I know it's graphic. I need a solution. The problem is not persistant but only happens if a fire is lit. I've tried disabling vsync but i only get to turn it on or set to application settings. I dont get an off. And yes my graphics are updated, i updated before making this post and it did not help anything. ( I've only had this laptop a few months so still learning all the mess, also my first time dealing with amd/ati)

search before posting.
search.php
(agh, cant link the searched one, put "fire" in the search word, check "bug and tech" section and search and you can find other threads on this.)

yes i did search and look things up. I understand making a new post is a bit rude but as you can see I said I did as everything i found said to do. I updated manually, i double checked and updated both java and graphics just to be sure. I have amd graphics as opposed to the nvidia that the only available solution was found on. I did as told for ati cards because of the post saying some chipsets dont work properly. I cant do anything as i have no option to change the settings and i asked for advice with that as well.

Now i've pretty much said the same thing three times now if anyone could please read it all before leaving a short, smart, common response i'd appreciate it.

if you actually read what i linked, especially the bug tracker one, you could see that this is decided as a "wont fix" issue.
you either have to make sure your graphics card has OpenGL 1.4+ and your driver supports it. that is the requirement.
i have heard amd/ati drivers often fail to install properly, so the only thing i could say is to clean-reinstall the driver or trying different version of the driver will be the only solution. or get a new graphics card, idk.

I did a clean instal each time, tried 3 different drivers.. also found a work around to make sure triple buffering was off which it was the entire time. Pretty much tried everything possible so apparently this is just how the game is built. Frustrating since i enjoy the game and would like to play. I feel getting another graphic card isnt the answer when I have zero trouble with all other games and can run all at the highest settings with no issues. I've also played worse games than this with an easier time lol.
So unless someone else has luck finding an answer or takes the time to improve the game to correct it those of us with this issue are just screwed.

have you checked your OpenGL version?

probably youd better google search by your graphic cards name and OpenGL and you shall find loads of pages that talk about how those graphics cards or drivers fail and dont work on OpenGL games, but instead try to use the original Intel GMA. id suspect your Intel GMA inside has OpenGL version like ~1.3 or something lower. now i am not a pro, and i think you should try reading the search results yourself to find out solutions. sorry but thats all i can help.
(loftar once said you would need a special ritual to install that kind of drivers properly  )

Well i've been working on computers for the majority of my life I know the tricks, my bf who's been doing it as long as i have, and between the two of us brainstorming we couldnt fix it. there typically isnt anything we cant sort out but this time we hit a brick wall. But I'm not done yet, I get this is beta and I'm still going to pick it apart. So I'm off to find something else that drives me nuts like this does. I just wont be using the fireplace much
