Application can not be started

Hello,

everytime when I start/try to start Salem, after reinstalling Java 1000 times, this error occours:
(I have Java 7, newest version)


Application can not be started

I would hazard a guess that firewall / router is blocking you from downloading / updating the game. Try disabling firewall or downloading in different location. You can forget about playing if you are at the office :)

Well, try deinstalling java 7, and get java 6.
Java 7 is so problematic that even Oracle does not recommend it for their own applications :D

First, make sure your firewall and any other security software does the following: allows Java applications to run (javaws.exe, java.exe, javaw.exe) and has the ports TCP 1871 and UDP 1870 open. If this doesn't resolve it, check your router. Make sure these ports are open on there, too. If the router is the issue, turning off software security won't help.

The connection being consistently reset while just downloading the client doesn't make any sense. I'm inclined to agree that there has to be some kind of firewall issue or such.
