Also had this, but I'm hoping is just a buggy message since server is not working.

In the future, could you post what you did or if the issue resolved on its own? It'll help others that might have a similar issue if they can see a potential solution.

Before any crashing message (if it has a message) I thought I was lagging hard and I close the client by clicking in the X.
After this it appeared the "already logged in message". I tried to manually close java processes and even tried to restart the PC - without success. My alt account logged normally in this time (but of course I couldn't effectively select chars to play).
The matter resolved by itself in maybe 15 min.

20 minutes ago, in Popham, 10 minutes walk from my homestead, I clicked to "open" a log. The toon played the walking animation, and page was un responsive, as the toon appeared to be walking against the log. Couldn't chop, or lift the log, or open inventory or menu, or click on nearby objects. Couldn't log off.
Clicked the "X" at the top-right, and went back to OS.
Win 10 did some UPDATE stuff on reboot (don't know if THAT is relevant). When I tried to bring game up, says I am already logged on. Reboot computer a couple times. No joy. Assume I will become "UNLOGGED" when character KO's or dies.

The server crashed, your char is only logged on in that the server didn't receive a logout message for that account before crashing. But your char will be logged out when the server is back up, not gonna die from madness :p

With the server down, I was forced to experiment with Real Life. I found there's sickness, and people and animals and stuff trying to kill you. I was pleased when I could get back to the sanity and safety of the game.
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the recovery, post-crash. My toon was where he was earlier, a few paces from the log he was stuck in, and all possessions were intact, Backpack, inventory, etc. Madness level was still zero - grabbed a few logs and whittled them to sharp points just in case. Made it home with the trip's swag, and put him to bed with his teddy bear. (At madness level zero, this has no practical effect, but superstition-mechanism reigns.)
Been impressed with the crafting-tree. A game tailormade for us Asperger-types.
