Lost characters

I'm pretty confused. Today I've logged in and didn't find my precisous characters in the characters list! There is only two of them
exists, and other two - has gone somewhere.

Is there any possible way to at least find what happened to them? Name of the character I'm looking for is 'nikelin'.

if you do any crime you probably was killed

Usual process to troubleshoot such things is :

are you using a custom client and if yes : did you type anything into the name filter box that could've excluded characters that don't have the typed in letter?

have you commited a crime, logged out inappropriately with high disease on you, logged out inappropriately with high madness on you for a long time? I'd suggest to check your account tab up top, that should show your characters that are still alive.

Also make sure you're logging into the correct account. More than a few people have logged into a second account they use, but don't have any characters on it.

No, I can't even see my characters here - on my account page.

It's very strange, because:
1. I haven't played Salem during the last ~3 months
2. I have never done any crimes to other players
3. Characters start to disappear since Saturday - one by one...

Also, today the 3rd character missed.

Did you have homestead(leanto/claimstone) on those chars? Did you login with them lately?

Devs added a game mechanic(months ago) that doesn't let you log out character out of the game world if you do not have homestead. If you logged in lately, didn't have a homestead and instead of using 'logout' button you just force closed the game client (with X button for example) then your chars did stay logged in for the whole time.
There is new mechanic insanity and madness. When your char stays online doing nothing, it accumulates madness. When it hits 9(from 0). The char dies.

(trying to logout with 'logout button" would tell you that you can't logout without homestead)

you problably logged in once and they had no homestead, that means your characters remained online and died of madness

Don't forget sickness. Though the massive plague ended long ago, if you lost your homestead and character got sick, sickness could have caused it.
