I did not die. I was in tutorial zone when I closed my client and when I opened it again, there was only a character I created earlier on my account.

If this is intended I just want to say its god-awfully stupid since there is zero indication that it would happen.

Intended. Chars in tutorial area do not save.

Well that is just ***** stupid. I grinded all the inspiration you spawn with. 0/5 probably won't bother trying again. Sorry for sounding like salty whiner but how was I supposed to expect that?

Because it's a tutorial and once you finish the quests, you're supposed to leave. The tutorial area is completely safe and single player, the exact opposite of Salem and what Salem is supposed to be: A harsh, permadeath, open - pvp, survival, multiplayer game. So, yes, we do allow you to stay in the tutorial and up some skills if you want, but your actions will have consequences; you take the risk of losing your character and starting over. That is true of much of Salem. You can die or lose a lot of what you have quite easily in this game. Salem is mostly about great risk and great reward. This tutorial mechanic is just your introduction to that. Congratulations, you lost your first character.

also, that'll teach you to close a client to log out. Don't do it.

If you had tried to log out as you are supposed to (through the options menu), you would have gotten the message "you cannot log out right now".
