Oh, forgot about mushroom pies. They are the hardest to make

There is a logic behind it:

You cannot make meat pies without leaving your base, but you can make the other ones without leaving base. Safety in this case justifies a higher cost.

You can't make any pies at all without leaving your base first. Got to build ovens and baking tables after all. Besides, you can hunt beavers in Boston.

The thought is definitely that players are 'rewarded' for hunting by less mats required. If that reward makes it so the other pies are completely obsolete that is not the intention but they definitely were not aimed to be balanced against each other all things being equal for this reason.

I have 2-3 sheds full of pumpkins. I have 20 berry bushes. Yet I still prefer making meat pies because large amount of materials for other pies makes them inconvenient to make. I can load my inventory with meat slabs and pie doughs and make 16 pies in one go, not to mention that 1 deer is enough to make like 15 pies, while with berry pies I would have to run between table and the berry container every 2 pies. With pumpkin pies it's easier as I can slice big pumpkins while making pies. Still 1.5 pumpkin per pie, and the requirement to have like 12 slots free... i'd rather throw those pumpkins as turkey fodder or compost them

Yes, but a lot of this is a problem with inventory management and not recipe required. The new encumbrance system will fix most of the 'But I don't have space to hold that' issues. As such, we are waiting for that system to come out before we drastically reduce materials costs simply because the current inventory is hard to juggle.

It doesn't look like it. PVP and Siege systems are pretty in depth. At this point I would say January patch.
