Bug`??? i put 20 liters of 5% concentration rose fluid, returned home and saw that there were only regular leathers there...

previous try i received fine leather with 10 l of 5%, this time i received none....

You ... were very very very lucky to get fine leather out of 5% concentration fluid. The chance of the resulting leather being fine increases with the concentration of the fluid, and I'm guessing you only have a 100% chance of success with 50% concentration fluid, since that's as high as the concentration goes and there'd be very little point in letting us make concentrations of the stuff higher than what's needed for guaranteed success.

when you say 50%, you mean then 100 roses? because 10 roses needed for 5%

Yes, 100 Roses is the point at which you get a guaranteed fine leather.

Assuming you are not unlucky and get the foetid ooze at that point.

k thx, i could not even imagine you needed that insane amount of roses for just 1, given that you need 8 for fine backpack

some math: 5 steam distillers costs a total of 5k silver just in glass planes, it is reasonable to assume that a player can make 3 batches per day (since they are each 4 h). to get 800 roses needed for 1 fine backpack, you would need then 800/(3*5) = 53.33 days

What reputable alchemist isn't running 100 steam distillers?

8 leathers at 750s each, or less depending on your deal making skills. End up paying 6k silver for that backpack with no extra work alchemizing!

There's also a very small chance of getting a fine leather from using standard tanning fluid. Don't know the exact number, though.

Yeah, nothing is ever linear unless you're talking about some cheap game that doesn't know maths.

@lachlaan: it's worth it if you're going to produce to sell over time, because it's a "one time" investment with decreasing costs the more you use the resource. But for just personal use... yeah, just buy the damn thing. It's an MMO, not a single player game. You don't lose because you got it from someone else, you actually win (a little bit, anyway). (Well, you win a lot--or lose a lot--if you stole it.)
