Yes mines will start to drain when you dig deep enough.

If you build one in the darkness to start with and then mine a lot THEN you'll know true drain. Barely survived the trip to the end.

While it's fun that mines drain when in the deep dark, I think the mechanic used to drain in mine is a bit harsh and counter-intuitive. I've noticed it seems to scale with max biles, which means that a high humoured character would die from drain in the same time a fresh alt would, and that makes it undesirable to mine on established mining characters from the old system that had lots of phlegm to be able to mine out a full wall without batting an eyelash. If anything it should be a compromise between the old drain system and current one in mines. Have drain suffer some diminishing returns as humours go up to encourage the use of non-silly alts for mining.

I have heard on several people getting ko in their mine. Just curious if this is the same for darkness towns with churches? I have not noticed drain.

As long the church covers the mine, you will not have a drain.

It does not really make alot sense tho.

For example, my base is close to the max distance from Boston, the church covers only around 200 tiles in the north direction then it gets weakened already. If I would make a mine larger than 200 tiles in that direction it SHOULD drain the **** out of me. (currently not the case)

same thing as oyu being able to teleport from your entire mine when you have claimed over the entrance and that is your homestead, I assume
