Walnuts

Is it intentional that it is not possible to plant Walnuts or Walnuts shells in a pot? Because I can't. If it's not this would seem to be a bug.

They seem to be the powerful rare food in the nut category so its likely intentional.

Yeah, I doubt they'll ever let us plant actual walnut trees.

I could see that, but where are we supposed to actually get them short of events if that's true?

We are considering it, but walnut recipes would then need to be nerfed accordingly.

Making oak plantations for walnuts seems silly, though. Surely you could balance the trees by giving them a fairly slow production rate. Or you can keep them valuable by requiring a high level of base development to plant them. For example, give them low base odds for germinating, but have it improved with high aether on pot and humus.

Speaking of nuts, I feel oaks in general have too slow a respawn rate to be a viable source for pure nuts, whereas other categories are much easily sustained by their respective grinds in terms of space used / time taken to obtain. Pure chestnuts are rare enough from stashes as it is, the fact that i need 40 trees to get a handful makes it all the more annoying, and cooking with a walnut as a variable nut requires such oak plantations. All in all it's just too unfeasible as a main food, so unless it was meant to always take a last option role with 4 foods at the end of a meal, why not up duff respawn and general tree production a bit?

Because tree production is based on the decay rate.

We plan on implementing a better nut system in the future. We just had to cut it to keep schedule for the time being.

Fair enough, i'll make due until it gets implemented :) When you feel like tweaking the current stuff a bit I have some ideas about it, perhaps put up a feedback thread like with PvP so people can share their feelings about how easily accessible the various foods are compared to others.
