Getting logged out

I'm trying to play Salem but it's making it impossible for me. I can't play for more than 2 minutes at a time without it logging me out over and over. I tried switching to Ender's Client but I have the exact same issue.
I admit that my internet is pretty bad at the moment, but I'm able to play any other game perfectly fine.

This guy seems to have had same problem:
http://forum.salemthegame.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4242&hilit=disconnect, doesn't look like it was resolved
Edit: Fixed it by opening ports UDP 1870 & TCP 1871

I have the same issue but i have managed to find a work around.
Log in to boston and enter the church, wait there for a minuet or two (you should get used to judging how long you need to wait over time - I tend to check out the forums while I wait), then you should be good to go for the rest of the play through. I tend to log out in the church now to. Let me know if this works for you as well.

This makes no technical sense at all.

Nope, none at all. Its completly crazy and I have no idea what is causing the issue - but it works for me. I have the same problem with Haven and hearth and I have found staying in a house for a few minuets (I tend to need to stay indoors longer in Haven) stops the problem.
Its also why I want to know if this works for others as well.

Tried opening ports UDP 1870 & TCP 1871 like it said in that past thread, it seems to be working so far, haven't been disconnected for 10 whole minutes

Oh can you give me a link? I have no idea how to open ports (or what they even are)

you need to go to your router homepage, just google it or get whoever controls your router settings in your house to do it

Drat, I dont have a router, I dont even have a phone line, I have to rely on a Mobile Broadband stick. I will have a dig around though.

technically, doing client-side port address translation makes no sense either.
This is likely a routing problem at your Internet Service Provider.
Try to bounce your connection trough a VPN and connect to Salem.
