Could Not Connect to Server

I've recently came back to play some Salem to see how things are and how things have changed.
But the default game client says "Could not connect to the server" when I try to log in.
I've checked the Server Status and the game isn't down.
I've tried Latikai and still could not connect to the server. I've tried configuring the control panel in Java like said on some topics here. I wouldn't prefer to disable my firewall while playing.
Are there any other solutions?

Yes I have. Also, I've re-launched/installed Salem ever since I started again.

Sounds like some network issue. Are you behind a firewall or some other software that would limit where and how you connect?

Yes I have firewall. Turning it off and trying to log in did not connect the server either.

I used to have this problem on my old school aswell, indeed must be something with you network acces.

That's weird, I used to be able to play Salem without problem of my network (except that I had to use a lower version of Java to get the launcher working) and it saying "Could not connect to server". Then I guess there are no solutions to it.

Some networks might block outdated versions of a program from connecting. Or just game servers in general.
Try a vpn, perhaps it'll connect through it.

I searched around the forums and found my solution for this "Could not connect to server" issue.
It was this and it worked for me:

Hi,

I was facing the same issue and I found a solution:

Open the Run dialog (Windows Key + R)
paste the follow line: setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

You may see a black screen appear and disappear very quickly.

Run the game again.
