It does.

Besides, I consider this ''bug'' as a feature.

This is something I've been studying recently (ever since I saw this post :D ). Sustainable lime is possible, but like every sustainable resource it requires careful management and discipline.

Fist, the "flatten" dig option does not work for Lime. Every time you dig lime, 4 height units are taken from the tile. If the tile is relatively flat then this is taken from all four corners. If the tile is at an extreme angle it is taken from the higher corners. The trick to sustainable lime is to dig down the edge tile, then raise one side of it with dirt such that the angle is steep enough that when you dig the lime tile it only tries to take from the dirt edges.

Second, it's best to only dig from the edge tiles. Use the center tiles as a kind of stopper to ensure that your interior edge never gets any lower. This does work, but again takes discipline.

Thirdly, all of this up and down on the dirt edges will inevitably create cliff edges. When this happens you have to have enough clearance behind the tile to dig out the cliff edge, then dig down the lime tile, then re-level the dirt tile. If not handled properly this can leave you with a cliff edge that is near impossible to get rid of. Again, this takes careful management and discipline.

Finally the question of where to get the fill dirt from is really quite a large one. It takes one unit of dirt for every 1.25 units of Lime produced. Using this method you end up with quite a crater in very short order, nearly as large as the one you would have made by strip-mining the lime node itself. And let's not forget that you can't very well import dirt as it's not carry-able and non-transferable. The same is not true for Lime.

So in summation, using this method will help you conserve your lime deposit at the expense of the land around it. You still end up making a huge crater in the landscape, and you end up with more work for yourself rather than less. The advantage of this method is that you get to choose where to place the gigantic crater, allowing you to create permanent infrastructure near the lime deposit for processing.

I am going to make a guide on this fairly soon. And I pray they say "feature" instead of "bug".

Also I'd like to point out that lime destruction is also possible with the inverse of this method. You can actually lower the leading edge of the lime deposit while excavating dirt from the adjacent tile, thereby reducing the yield potential of the quarry without gaining lime. I think this happens to a lot of strip miners without them realizing it.

Thanks, I would like to see more info on this as I am not exactly clear on how to accomplish this...

Can you still destroy lime deposits by dumping dirt on top of lime tiles?

P.S. One tip on getting the dirt - you can drop dirt onto a sled to carry it from elsewhere... using sled you can carry 4x 15 units of dirt.

*EDIT* I think I did figure out how to get infinite lime now with this trick, however I think I am doing something wrong because it require that I re-level the edge with 4 units of dirt to replace 1 dug out lime boulder... is that correct??
