I assume there was no body left behind so the goose must have been taken out of the coop. Have you noticed anything else missing? I don't know what your living situation is, but if you have anyone living on that claim or with permissions on it, or if you've given your password to anyone, it could easily have been stolen. It could also have been stolen if your gates were left opened or unlocked. Did you check for trespassing scents? I know of no bug that could allow the goose to just disappear.

It could have also been stolen if someone has "parked" a char in that mine in the past, before you have built those defenses. Did you perhaps find this mine entrance and just built your claim around it?
