So if I'm to follow this logic, if a snake poisons you and then knocks you out directly (vs KO by poison), then you will lose 4 points? This is a lot of speculation in an area where we're not even sure what exactly happened to the OP.

I just tested this on an alt. I was koed by three snakes with a blood KO and only lost two points. I definitely had Poison on when I was koed.

I don't have any more specifics on what happened. I haven't learned much about combat or any effects like poisoning. I remember trying to escape, found a small hill to climb, sat and waited to see if the snake would go away. About 10 seconds of waiting and I KO'd. Was i poisoned??
