Unable to buy wilderness spawn

I used my free spawn and when I went back to Jamestown to buy another with silver, the wilderness guides open up a trading window and refuse to sell wilderness spawns.

You can no longer buy wilderness spawns. You get one free. When you port, the guide hangs around a few minutes (or until you wander off too far) and will give you an option to try again up to 5 times (if I recall correctly). However, once you use up all your attempts or wander off, you're stuck with where you are at. If you want different/better, you'll have to search it out yourself.
