killing cricket in shallow water

Hi guys,

While standing in shallow water, when I have killed a cricket with thrust, I hear a splash sound and then the cricket disappears. The first time the cricket was in the shallow water. The second time, it was at the edge of the water while I was in the water hoping to prevent it from disappearing. Is this a feature or a bug?

it is not a bug, items dropped in the water disappear (don't accidentaly drop your bucket )
A dead cricket is an item (not a carryable animal like beavers/deers) and as such disappears when it hits water
