Choppy gameplay as of Sunday 16th

Postby Wournos » Mon Dec 17, 2012 12:14 pm

I've been experiencing choppy gameplay since yesterday morning. I first noticed it in the wild, around my Homestead. When I went to Roanoke it only lasted within and slightly outside the city. Today the choppy feeling is everywhere - and worse. The response rate of clicking is worse and the game lags in general. The game was fine between Wednesday and Saturday. :|

Have anyone else experienced this? Are you experiencing this?!

For the record, I play on a Mac Snow Leopard with Java 6. I'm aware that my computer isn't exactly up to date but I find it strange that it would work fine for a few days and then basically flip overnight.

With intermittent lag issues, it can be extremely hard to trace these things down. Even if nearly everyone had an issue, it could still be a random internet outage. The only way to be sure it's something the devs can do something about is if it's relatively consistent over a period of time or set of conditions.

Should I report back if it persists or just hope it's one of the internet flus?

Keep an eye on things. If you notice something persistent and those you play with are having the same issues, then reporting what you can find might help. Otherwise, it's really hard to tell if the issue is due to server performance from this end or if it's just network errors between the server and client. I really don't have a clue as to what information might or might not be helpful, though. While I have some network experience, it's very outdated.

Are you using Enders (although this is only something I have personally noticed and have no idea if the same issue is affecting the vanilla client)

I periodically (every 2 weeks or so depending on how much i have been playing) have to delete salem and reinstall it, this includes deleting the Salem folder and clearing the java cache, however each time results in significant improvements regarding low FPS, stuttering and the such.

Yes I use Enders.
Thanks for the tip. I will try it.
