PermaDying on a Ridable Cricket

Postby MaxPlanck » Tue Dec 22, 2015 3:52 pm

So, when a character dies on a ridable cricket, the body stays on top of the cricket.

You can lift the body but there is actually a bug with this. When you lift the body and drop it on the ground nearby you still cannot ride the cricket.

Well, that's because the server doesn't think you lifted the body, yet at the same time the server knows the body has been lifted.
By the way, this means you can't hop on the cricket after you've moved the body, it is still sitting there in place.

Now, when I mentioned just a second ago about the server doesn't think you lifted the body yet it has been lifted, its because when you go to leave the loaded section of the map and come back the body
is actually still on top the of cricket...but actually...its not on top of the cricket in terms of the server.

If you attempt to lift the body you will go to where the body was last dropped at to pick it up even though the body is actually shown on the cricket. You will then pick up the body from its spot and you
can move the body, but in the end- the cricket is still not ridable/doesn't despawn/doesn't move around/the body will show itself on the cricket no matter how many times its moved.

(Giant Cricket walls anyone can't get by, eh, eh xD ?)

Possible teleport abuse? Make the trip once to deposit a body somewhere, then you can port from the cricket to the body at a moments notice?

The game doesn't make you teleport to where the body was left. You don't walk up to the cricket to pick up the body after its been moved, you use lift on the body shown on the cricket and you walk towards where the body was left.

The cricket despawns once the body turns into a skeleton and everything gets updated.

Still, an interesting bug. Thank you for the detailed report.

I had noticed this once...my wife crashed while on a cricket during a blood moon. ..quetz had traveled to the light, apparently, and said hello.

I had retrieved her body, but the cricket was unusable. I think I tried stomping it but that didn't work.

Perhaps the cricket is just not letting you ride him out of mourning for its previous master?
