This has been asked about before. There are a couple of tools you can use that are player authored to access resources and such that can be used translate in-game text.

The one resource utility I'm aware of (haven't kept track of these things myself) can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5417#p63185

I'll post the pm here for future reference:

A while back i merged the translation feature. It is largely untested by myself, but it was implemented by a Korean player that apparently used it to good effect.

You can enable this checkbox in the option menu. You will find a file called "trans.txt" in your salem folder, and a file called "late.txt". In trans.txt you have a collection of

Code: Select all
<english sentence>
<translated sentence>
<english sentence>
<translated sentence>
...

The client will match sentences it needs to show to this list. If it is a match, it will be substituted by the translated sentence. If it is not in the list, the english sentence will be written to "late.txt". Hence late.txt contains sentences which do not yet have a translation.

It may be that you do not have a trans.txt file in your salem folder. Then you can simply create one in ~/Salem. You can find an example file https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DonnEssime/Custom-Salem/master/etc/trans.txt.

Lat
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

question, is it possible to make the file look like

<inspiration>
Faith & Wisdom
translation
Cloak & Dagger

I'm pretty sure that the file is only processed in double lines.
So you could do something like this:

Heffernan wrote:question, is it possible to make the file look like

// Inspirationals
// <these lines are ones that will never actually be displayed in-game>
Faith & Wisdom
translation
Cloak & Dagger
translation

// Inspirationals
// <these lines are ones that will never actually be displayed in-game>

that said, ideally I should tweak the parsing of the file to allow comments, which shouldn't be too hard either. For now this may serve.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
