Well, when was the last time you scanned your PC for viruses / malware? Maybe it's some keylogger messing with input devices.
If your PC is clean then maybe try to reinstall java 6

To extend Procne's line of thinking, you could have other drivers for keyboard and mouse that are interfering somehow (Logitech has had issues with mouse drivers in the past).

I was playing around a little bit a couple of days ago and noticed the escape key doesn't quite function the same way it did. I may have the right answer but the wrong solution. I don't have time to test right now, but I'll see if I can reproduce this sometime today. If you can, try to take note of every single key press and click. I know it's a lot to ask, but it could be something simple you're doing or something complex in the client taking many actions to break.

hmm, well the current software i use is a microsoft sidewinder x4 keyboard and a microsoft comfort mouse 4500, Which uses the software microsoft intellipoint, the previous mouse i owned was an earlier generation of comfort mouse and used the same software of intellipoint. I guess i should also mention i am using a laptop which has a buit in touchbad also, however i do not use that or the touchpad, which i have disabled.

towards the noting of every single key press/click do you mean for example "click log in, Right click tree, click button that pops up, then client stops functioning properly?"

Apparently intellipoint did cause some problems in the past. You might want to update the intellipoint software.
Also, if you have touchbad available - try to enable it and see if the problem repeats with it.

Tried both of these, Updating didn't change anything nor did using the touchpad, i'm not sure if its something to do with my hardware, In any case im going to attempt to experiment with diffrent versions of java to see if that will help ^^

Yeah, like that. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything else to suggest to try.

I'm trying to finish painting a house before the winter weather sits in or I'd log in and test my theory out right now (taking a lunch break at the moment) as I know how I got the interface to lock up in a similar fashion to this. I was just able to escape out of the menus and actions so never thought about reporting it. (shame on me!!)

alrighty then, tried to downgrade java to version 6, that didnt work so uninstalled that and reinstalled update 7 but seems like the problem is still there

As of what i can see there are 3 things that make this bug happen

Once logged in --> right click on tree/stone/log etc anything that brings up the diffrent options, Left clicking or right clicking away from them closes the options and allows me to move and interact with the ui.
If left/right clicked on one of the option buttons (like the one in the screenshot) the game does not freeze but is unable to interact with the ui/use the interaction option buttons and needs to be closed/reopened
If I use numbers 1-9 while having the interaction option buttons up, the effect that is described above is repeated
if I click adventure and then "destroy" a similar affect happens that leaves me unable to move, but i can interract with the UI such as opening my inventory etc
Edit: upon more testing if i click destroy interacting with the ui only goes as far as clicking the buttons, if i click to tp back to boston it doesn't act like i clicked it eg: no system message
I can open containers that i find in the world which don't require the interaction option thingy such as hollow stumps and bushes, I can also pick items up off the ground.

Thats all i could think of so far in terms of a list, don't really know what else to test

Edit: It seems to be working now, think it might have been a net problem Thankyou for helping :)
