Either way, I downloaded the heapdump, and it does in fact turn out that the audio error is in fact related to your problem, in that the audio errors keep sound clips queued up without being able to play, which uses a lot of memory in the form of Vorbis codebooks. If I were still in charge of the Salem client, I'd fix this by making sure that the clip queue is cleared if an audio line error is encountered. ^^

Either way, an almost even better question is why you're seeing audio errors to begin with... don't you have a sound card, or what?


uuh it says no speaker or headphones plugged in, i might try plugging speakers in.

or turning the sound off if you're not using it. That should cause the client to not spawn the Clips in the first place.

i had the sound to 0% all the time

still after plugging in speakers the problem ceased to exist, still hope it can be fixed incase someone else has it in the future

Check your drivers to see if anything is getting disabled when audio devices are unplugged. I know some functionality can get disabled with some devices with no devices plugged in. I'm not sure of the extent of this without doing a lot more digging into hardware and driver information in Windows, though. (A simple test on client load and disabling sound playing period would prevent this. Or allowing sound to be manually disabled in options or config file instead of volume set to 0 would work, too.)
