Connection timed out: connect

Postby Woothie » Tue Nov 12, 2013 12:29 pm

So I just made an account here at Salem and downloaded the client. Everything downloaded fine, but when I try to log in it gives me 'Connection timed out: connect' after a while. It might be worth menitioning that my password is composed of >90 letters and high ANSI letters. In case this is a problem.

Update: I tried to change it to a shorter (more comprehensable) password with letters and numbers only. Still nothing.

Try a custom client like Enders: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=50
It is much more reliable than the default client.

Thanks, but I'd rather stick to the official launcher for now. At least 'till I get to know the game well enough, in case there are techincal difficulties. I'll bookmark it for later use if I find the official client hard to cope with :)
Edit: Appearantly setting up a VPN connection and/or rebooting my router fixed the problem. I did both at the same time, so I can't really tell which one of them fixed it <_<

Vanilla client generally sucks so I too highly recommend that you try out either Ender's client or Latikai's client.
