That post was in reply to increasing duration it takes to destroy stuff. You should really try reading sometimes, it's fun. Now this derail ends here, back to discussion on balancing vandalism.

This isn't a good thing Wishy. That it's so easy for a character like that to destroy that so easily is bad for the game and drives people from the game who are no longer able to get to 700 because they have no legacy hummus. I get it. You've worked for almost 11 months on that character but it was easier for you than it is for someone who started after the purity nerf last spring. They can't get to those 20% tier 3 cabbage cakes in any way without finding some leftover hummus somewhere.

I'm still waiting on that Alchemy clothing set Jorb. :D
Argost wrote:The same thing I have for a while. What do you guys plan to do with the game and what about the player base? Jorb this game is awesome. But you have a lot of empty servers. Is there any plan to get new people in game and at least give em a chance before the titan guys kill em off?

btw welcome back Argost it's nice to see you back. As for promoting the game, some of us have been trying to get the word out. I regularly pop on other game sites and update the Salem reviews by posting new reviews to get it back in the mix. Wishy's been doing some great Twitch live streams and I might start doing them also. There's now a Salem fan discussion group on Steam and I'd love it if the Dev's joined that. I don't think you can download it there yet, but it's got more of prescence. Take it into your own hands. There are only the two of them and a receptionist at Seatribe I think so they can't do this themselves. The biggest thing you can do is make yourself available for questions from noobs. This game has such a huge learning curve that any help given will increase the population by a lot.

It was an answer to your reply. (i'm pretty sure I only continued a derail, and this is MY TOPIC)(I prefer replying to those that don't know jack about what they're talking)
Your reply had nothing to do with the OP aswell, so stop derailing, you should try reading sometimes! (it's easier than math!)

Mod abuse! I'm changing my vote now! GG Potjeh, you are now keeping me from playing Salem THE GAME.

I will, of course, continue to play Salem THE FORUMS.

Well, some catching up to do. Most points I planned to make have been done, but i'll just highlight them again :)

Potjeh wrote:IMHO after gluttony priority should be placed on town features. Salem fails big time on having a social dimension, because there's no tools to organize communities and saboteurs are ridiculously OP. You can't expect people to create societies here like in real life when the environment only bears a superficial resemblance to RL environment.

Argost wrote:Totally agree, I wish there was an answer to all this. Short of making it so property can be damaged but repaired and not destroyed. That would at least let towns have a chance to grow even after an attack. But I am not even sure they could code it that way. I am no devolper heh.

All we need is proper intra-town security. Ie braziers with better targeting and full control over town members' permissions (the fact that citizenship grants vandalism rights is the main reason saboteurs are so OP).

As for theft, I still hold that it should be possible to do it via stealth, ie not getting hit by braziers at all. Destroying stuff would throw out all pretense of stealth, of course.

Snowpig wrote:I think the incentive to steal stuff should be higher than to destroy stuff. As i interpret several postings from raiders, at the moment it is far less troublesome (scents &c) to destroy stuff than to loot it.

Basically, a griefer comes into your town and can clean out your entire farming plot while everyone's sleeping. Sure, we have some defences and keys in place, but for a town that aims to be a social happening rather than a top-notch faction, having a single-claim town isn't really an option.

I've raided a bit myself too, mainly pillaging though. Some things are stupidly weird. I get one larceny scent + debuff for carrying a chest off a claim, but if i'd just loot it right there i'd get up to 25 debuffs & scents. No wonder people drag them off-claim to smash em. And then there are people stupid enough to lock cupboards :)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
