You could be more clear by not evading the question. I'll restate to get to the crux - if I put together a more thorough text on the shortcomings of the moderators here, will your comment to "take it up with jorb" be used as a pretense for a ban?

If "take it up with jorb" is a moderation edict, the claim can be made that ignoring it is a rules violation. If "take it up with jorb" is you saying that you personally don't care what I have to say, but the comment is being made in a non-moderation context, I'm still free to state my case publicly.

This ambiguous middle ground is why moderators are supposed to use green text when they are moderating. The practice of using green text has fallen out of practice with some moderators, who wish the position of moderator to be viewed as a personal power/status symbol, as opposed to a voluntary obligation to the Salem community.

But it was not clear - this issue has also popped up in the past, with the response going the other way, and moderators insisting the forum public should've known they were not speaking as a moderator because they didn't green text.

Even if you're abandoning the green-text standard, you shouldn't be so opposed to clarifying when it's not "clear from content and context."
