Bunch of Questions

Postby Frakked » Tue Sep 03, 2013 10:07 pm

I'm a fairly new player... just figured out how to get leveling to work... and suddenly there's Bear in the area. It's wiped me twice and I've gotten away (kill client) twice. Is there anything a Bear dislikes that can encourage it elsewhere? Too much time invested in my little plot of land... too much silver spent to just move out; but my Blood rating is only 15... and my Phelm 9... (working on it)

Second, if two creatures are going at it... Bear/Deer or snake/rabbit... can you take advantage of it? If I tag either one... will the loser's corpse still be on the ground when it's over?

Final question- Mouse for Camera rotating... I saw in the UI... press the 'middle button'... but for me that also the scroll wheel and the most I've been able to turn is about 10 degrees. My 2nd is a trackball... which doesn't have that much. Recommendations? (Figured this one out... goofed. Just use Trackball 99%... )

Thanks

For the bear part, you'll just have to wait for it to despawn.
And for the Critter Fight Club.. Well I'm not sure what you are asking here. IF you are asking whether you can loot critters who have been slain by other crittes - then yes.

-Leave the area for 30-45 minutes and the Bear will go away. This is a good opportunity to go foraging in another biome and explore the lands around your home
-When animals fight each other, you can loot the loser's corpse. You don't need to tag either animal
-For the mouse rotation with a trackball, I can not assist.

Faithfully,

If you are only able to rotate the screen a little bit that means that your mouse click is for some reason being released, which should be able to be fixed in your mouse configuration. As for your track ball, you will need to buy a track ball with a middle mouse button or download a program to map mouse buttons to your keyboard.

Just be careful not to attack them, when they are both still fighting, because it usually turns both of them to attack you. Concerning Snake/rabbit: If rabbit kills the snake just wait up to 5 mins and then you can loot two corpses ;)

Another question...

Claim Upkeep-

I've read a lot of angst on this in the forums when I do a search for 'upkeep'; but I can't find the option on my claim stone to store 'silver' against a future need? Does it show up after 30 days (mine is under that currently), depend totally on size, what?

Thanks

You can put silver into your claim stone by picking up silver and right-clicking on it.

I think I figured it out...

Is the 'area'... in my case it says 1230m... how many tiles I have claimed or is there another conversion? Assuming my upkeep is 8s/day? Suppose I'll find out tomorrow?

New question- Torch Post... I figured out how to add tinder... but I can't re-light the thing. Is it automatic? I'm not seeing a 'brightness' effect when I added tinder; only a grey 'cone' appears at the top. I tried using a tinder drill and then a torch; but it doesn't do anything.

Also, is there some secret (or obvious method) of setting down lifted material to line up correctly. I know how to position objects to be created... but stuff already made is beyond me.

Finally, is there a list somewhere (not on wiki) of what you can build inside a Mine?

1. Your upkeep shows in the bar directly under the square meters. The first half of the fraction is how much you've paid into the claim, and the second is the total upkeep for 60 days. Divide the total by 60 to get your daily upkeep, which is how much will drain from what you've paid in each day. The wiki has the formula as well.
3. When you lift the object, right-click it to be able to see what it will look like when you set it down. Hold ctrl to place it off the game's grid, which is WEIRD and I hate. Objects will always face you, so move around if you need something in a certain place and it's off-center. If you're using Ender's client, you can use ctrl-l and select an area to show the levelling grid which I just use as a regular grid for placing things evenly, and you can press ctrl-z to place an object in the center of a tile.
4. I highly doubt it! Is there anything in particular you're wondering about? If it's not on the wiki, just go in a mine and attempt to build it, or I can do it for you if you don't have a mine nearby :)

New Question:

I've been getting 'harassed' in Boston by folks wanting me to join their kin... and it's more than one person... but their name is always '???' and I never get any more information than that... or even the name of the Kin(s). Is there a toggle for anonymity?

I'm blown it off for the most parts... but most are threatening perma-death if I don't join a kin. What's annoying is there are lots of skeletons at the fringes (just outside) of Boston. Assuming that Boston is a 'safe' area... and everything else goes?

I've looked at that 'Groups' section of the Forums... and I'm not seeing how it's divvied up by 'Server' or Major township.

Second question- ties in with above... I'm wondering where I am on 'the map'; but walking out of Boston seems to be suicide. Is there a reliable map? I took the Guide at the beginning who ported me somewhere and then walked/wandered for a long time before putting down roots... twice. Just curious. And are all 3 servers essentially the same map... just called different names?
