I click on my character name and it starts to load the screen and then closes the game with no error. I have tried both clients and I get the same message. Please someone help.

See my reply to the OP, who had the same problem, on the first page on the thread.

You're using an ancient video driver that doesn't even support GLSL 1.2. Try either upgrading it, or turning off GLSL usage completely in the client. To do the latter, use the console command ":gl shuse off" (on the character selection screen, before the crash is triggered).

Tried both and no change. Default client opens I can choose a character, the screen starts to load and then poof the client closes and gives no error message.

I was having this error, first with the Ender client and then with the normal client.

1st I opened Java in the Control Panel and cleared all temporary files; don't think it did much, but always a good first go at things.

2nd I logged into my account on the website and downloaded the client from www.salemthegame.com directly.

This seems to have fixed the problem for me. The initial log in took a while to 'load' my character but it seems to be working smoothly now.

Check it out and hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. Gave it a go (emptied the Java cache and downloaded the client). It went a little bit farther in opening but still poofed with no error message and the client closed. For what its worth I am running Java SE version 6. with update 45. Is it still the case that we should use Java 6 and not 7?

I do get this in a notepad file after each client crash. I copied only the first part and the last part which shows my hardware (I think)

If anyone has any ideas? I would greatly appreciate being able to play again. I am no programmer.
